that require a boost of energy. The drink would also help to restore energy levels; it would be
perfect for all the athletes and sports enthusiasts in the school. The best part of this drink was
that it had no preservatives or additives. It was safe for children to drink on the go.
Next came the name for the product; Amala was sure that she wanted to honour her Naani,
the brainchild behind this product. Amala, along with her Ma, who was into product design,
designed a beautiful greenish-yellow bottle that reminded everyone of an amla fruit with a
circular shape like a gooseberry. They got help from the local vendor to bottle the homegrown
‘Energy Drink’, and they aptly named it “Nani’s Juice Jive”. Juice Jive soon became the go-to
drink with a refreshing taste and energising qualities.
Later, they started adding other popular
products at Amala’s maternal home, like
the amla murabba, amla candy(sweet)
and supari(a savoury mouth freshener).
Naani also made Chywanprash which
was a unique mix of amla, ghee,
honey, sesame oil, and other herbs
and spices. To give it a unique twist,
kesar (saffron), a powerful antioxidant
was added to it. It was like a tonic for
the young and old alike in winter.
Naani was proud of Amala and her
enterprising ways. The school also
proudly featured Amala in their
school magazine, and she received
the ‘Home Entrepreneur’ award of
the year, making everyone in the family
proud.
Amala in her acceptance speech said, "I dedicate the
award to my Naani, who innovatively creates many
products, out of this small fruit." Gooseberry Granny got goosebumps and her eyes were shining
with tears of joy.
